WAHA's Motorcycle Ambulances: 3 containers sent to Niger, Ethiopia and Chad.

Each country will receive in a few weeks 26 motorcycle ambulances each.

Designed by WAHA International these motorcycle ambulances are made to improve access to emergency obstetric care for women living in underserved regions and reduce maternal death, and benefit the community as a whole.

Lack of an efficient transport facility for patients is one of the biggest development gaps left unmet in many health systems.

We'll be continuously improving the model so it can be best adapted to different contexts and needs.

The clip below shows the first model we produced and the next 100, which we then upgraded in 2011. Nearly 150 motorcycle ambulances have been produced so far. We're getting an increasing demand for this ambulance, but we still need support to extend its use.
