WAHA Team in Hargeisa, Somaliland

Dr. Essam, Dr. Mulu, Dr Ambaye, Dr. Merzouga, Missa Edna and members of UAE Red Crescent

A new medical programme to treat patients suffering from obstetric fistula at Edna Hospital in Hargeisa in Somaliland is now underway! WAHA International and the UAE Red Crescent are implementing the project and a team of four surgeons from WAHA International (Dr. Sinan, Dr Mulu, Dr. Ambaye and Dr Essam) are present at this hospital along with an anesthetist, Dr Merzouga.  50 patients will receive treatment this week and several anaesthetists and surgeons will be trained.

Donation of new mobile delivery room for displaced in Yemen

WAHA International and the United Arab Emirates Red Crescent Authority have received a donation of a fully equipped mobile delivery room from Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Fund for Women and Child Refugees in partnership with UNHCR.

Fistula treatment camp in Nazareth Hospital, Kenya

In collaboration with AMREF, WAHA International started a fistula camp in Kenya. The Nazareth VVF camp will continue until Saturday. We expect to operate 25 to 35 patients.

Women Deliver Conference

Women Deliver

WAHA International will be present at the Women Deliver conference taking place in Washington DC in June this year. The theme of the conference is: "Delivering solutions for girls and women," and it will focus on political, economic, social/cultural, and technological solutions.

Fistula Camp in South Sudan

South Sudan

On the 3-8th May, WAHA International will be undertaking an Obstetric Fistula Surgical Mission at Mary Immaculate Dor Mapuordit Hospital in South Sudan, in collaboration with Dr. Tom Raassen. During the fistula camp, Dr. Tom Raassen will operate many women, but he will also provide theoretical background information on fistula repair and train and supervise local surgeons.

Fistula camp in Somaliland

Edna

Dr. Essam Elsayed, WAHA surgeon, has arrived in Somaliland and he is currently making an assessment of the materials that we will need for the fistula camp in Edna Hospital which will start on May 1.
